Protect And Plan For The Future Of Your Family

You have worked hard to provide for and to protect your family. You acquired your assets and took appropriate measures to ensure that your loved ones have the things they need. When you are no longer there to look after your loved ones, it is important that there are still documents and a plan in place to help protect them.
Effective estate planning can provide the protection you want for your loved ones, and the probate process allows your wishes to be carried out after you’re gone. I am attorney James S. Vergotz, and I work closely with clients throughout Pittsburgh and western Pennsylvania to ensure that their wishes are correctly described in their wills and then followed during probate. Call me at 412-847-5558 to schedule a free initial consultation.

Make Your Wishes Known Through Estate Planning

There is a misconception that the only people who need to think about estate planning are elderly citizens or the wealthy. Regardless of your age or the size of your assets, estate planning is beneficial. I help clients minimize the tax burden and the cost of administration in order to effectively transfer the maximum amount of their assets as they wish. If you have minor children, it is essential that you at least have a will in order to protect them and to administer their inheritance. Other effective estate planning tools include:

  • Powers of attorney
  • Medical powers of attorney/advance health care directives/living will
  • Standby guardianships for minor children
  • Trusts

Client Testimonials

“I want to thank you for promptly and professionally you handled our Mother’s estate closing. I was dreading the whole thing when it was handed to me, but you and your staff made it nearly effortless…something I truly appreciate. I don’t know if you ever have potential clients requesting a letter of recommendation, but if you do, I would gladly vouch for you and the services you provided.”
“I don’t know how to express the thanks I have for you for all of the work you have faithfully done for me and my family. You paid attention to every detail that needed to be scrutinized and saw to it that our best interests were always served. I do not believe anyone else could have gotten the favorable outcome that you obtained for us. I’ll be forever grateful to you.”
“I just wanted to say thank you for all of your hard work and support. It is so nice to be able to call you and discuss all my questions and (of course) opinions and get a reliable, honest and intelligent answer. Thank you.”
“We don’t know what we would have done without you. You were only positive to the entire experience. Thank you so much for your expertise, friendship and calming ways. I’ll never forget what you’ve done for us.”

I empower the administrator and executor to handle the things they are comfortable handling, and will help work through the legal aspects that are difficult for them to understand or act on. I have been practicing law since 1980, and I am experienced in handling all areas involving probate.
